WordFest OCC Photography Challenge

WordFest Photography Challenge

We are delighted to be part of the very first Olney WordFest. Photographs are a huge part of story telling and when the WordFest team asked us to be involved, we wanted to do something interactive, that got the audience involved.

In a nutshell

So – we came up with six bookish themes and encouraged people to get out with their camera and take photos that fit the themes. First, they came to collect the themes from us on the day. Then went out and about on the day to take six photos that matched those themes. And finally sent them back to us by midnight that day. We then went through to pick the best shots. Simple!

These were the themes, and our favourite photos from the day.

Theme One: Leaves

Theme Two: Lettering

Theme Three: Characters

Theme Four: Dog-eared

Theme Five: A Good Place To Read

Theme Six: The End

The Rules

Mobile phones or digital cameras may be used.

The challenge is to capture 6 photos on 6 given themes within a set time frame.

The challenge is free to enter, but should you wish to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society you are most welcome.

You must register and collect the themes, in person, from the Olney Camera Club Photography Challenge Desk at Wordfest 2024, The Olney Centre, High Street, Olney between 9:00am and 3:00pm on Saturday 14th September.

All photos must be taken on the day of the Photo Challenge event between 9:00am and 7:00pm.

Photos should reach us before midnight on Sunday 14th September. You can email them to programme.occ@gmail.com . You may wish to use a service such as WeTransfer. Please make sure (by way of the image name, or in the body of the email you send) it is clear what theme the photo is for. Alternatively you can use the upload form link provided on your theme sheet.

Image processing should be kept to a minimum. Cropping or simple adjustments are allowed, but anything over processed may be disqualified.

The copyright in the photos taken remains with the photographer.

In entering the competition you agree to grant Olney Camera Club the right to use the photos in media and promotional material to promote the club – you will be given a credit.

The organisers (Olney Camera Club) accept no responsibility for loss or unauthorised use of photos entered into the competition.

Submitted photos will be judged and any photo deemed of high enough quality will be awarded ‘Highly Commended’. Photographers will be notified by email and their photos will be published on Facebook and on the Club’s website.

The decision of the judges in all matters relating to the Wordfest 2024: Photography Challenge is final.
