How to: Understanding our Scoring Model
Firstly, the judge scores each image on a scale of 1 – 20. These scores are added to the score sheet as shown.
Member | Score |
Person #1 | 18 |
Person #1 | 15 |
Person #2 | 14 |
Person #2 | 16 |
Person #3 | 13 |
Person #3 | 17 |
Person #4 | 17 |
Person #4 | 19 |
Person #5 | 16 |
Person #5 | 0 |
Person #6 | 11 |
Person #6 | 9 |
Person #7 | 18 |
Person #7 | 14 |
Person #8 | 15 |
Person #8 | 15 |
Person #9 | 16 |
Person #9 | 18 |
We then work out which score is the highest, second highest etc, in this case, 19, 18 & 17.
We then see who has the points that correspond with the top three scores. It might mean we have multiple first, second and third places. If we had people with 17 points or over, who did not get third, second or first place, they would be commended.
1st | 2nd | 3rd | Commended |
Person #4 | Person #1 | Person #3 | |
Person #7 | Person #4 | ||
Person #9 | |||
Those 1sts, 2nds and 3rds are then awarded points. A first place gets 5 points, a second place gets 4 and a third place gets 3. Commended gets 1.
Person #1 | 4 |
Person #2 | 0 |
Person #3 | 3 |
Person #4 | 8 |
Person #5 | 0 |
Person #6 | 0 |
Person #7 | 4 |
Person #8 | 0 |
Person #9 | 4 |
We also have an image of the night, which is chosen by members and does not score points.
It’s complicated, but it works!
